The Financial Compliance Department is responsible for the company`s regulatory work to ensure risk-based oversight of lawyers` compliance with Scottish law enforcement rules and anti-money laundering regulations. Similarly, the Department will regulate the compliance of licensed legal service providers with the requirements of the regulatory scheme approved under the Legal Services (Scotland) Act 2010. The department is a key part of the company`s efforts to protect the interests of customers, the public and the profession. You will be an experienced and motivated lawyer interested in gaining experience in the field of compliance. You will bring relevant legal expertise, excellent written and oral communication skills and an innovative approach to problem solving and process management to the role above. You will also be able to establish and maintain excellent and useful working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (committee members, teammates, other departments and key external stakeholders).
A legal background with some office experience would be beneficial, as would experience in a client-focused role. Candidates must have good communication skills, both on the phone and in writing. The most important attributes include flexible handling of changing priorities, patience in dealing with people in difficult life situations, and confidential treatment of sensitive issues. The incumbent will also work on projects to develop key aspects of our regulatory system, such as the development of rules and guidelines, and to assist with investigations.
