What Are the Documents Required for Life Certificate

Digital Life Certificate is a digital biometric service for retirees. The ability to submit life certificates online through the Jeevan Pramaan portal was launched in November 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide pensioners with a convenient and transparent way to submit life certificates, according to a press release. Supporting documents: Photocopies of all receipts must be notarized and attached to the application. Do not send any original documents other than the affidavit/document to be certified. If you have a certificate of life issued by a foreign organization, you will have to pay to have it signed and stamped. To apply for a certificate of life, you must go in person to the consular section of the embassy or consulate. You must meet the following conditions: Supporting documents: Carry the originals of all supporting documents to be presented to the consular officer (photocopies of which must be attached to the application). If you are unable to present the original documents at the counter, bring a notarized copy of the documents attached to the application. Make sure the notarized copy is legible. Otherwise, the consulate may demand to see the original. However, the passport must be presented in the original.

“Pensioners do not need to go to the pensions department office or pension payment office to present a certificate of life,” the central government said. If you cannot go to the embassy or consulate, in some countries you can obtain a certificate of life from the municipal authorities or from a notary of the municipality abroad where you live. Dutch financial and pension funds such as the ABP Pension Fund and the Social Insurance Bank may ask you to provide a certificate of life (verklaring van in leven zijn or attestatie de vita). Include a recent certificate (no later than 15 days) from a medical officer indicating that the applicant (by name) has been examined by the physician (with date) and is still alive on the same day. Original and photocopy of one of the following documents as proof of residency: U.S. driver`s license, utility bill, lease, ID card or mortgage deed. If you live in the United States and need a certificate of life, the embassy in Washington or consulates general in New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Miami or San Francisco can issue this document. Download the Miscellaneous form and fill it out carefully. Each applicant is required to complete a separate application form and attach their photo.

ONLY ONE COPY OF THE CERTIFICATE OF LIFE WILL BE ISSUED. “Given the current pandemic, it is a great relief for retirees to submit life certificates while staying at home,” the government said. IPPB uses its nationwide network of more than 1,36,000 access points in post offices and more than 1,89,000 letter carriers and Gramin Dak Sevaks equipped with smartphones and biometric devices to provide home banking services. “To make this facility available nationwide, DoPPW engaged India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) and used its extensive network of postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks to provide retirees with door-to-door facilities for filing digital life certificates,” he said.
