The Pro Bono Project offers a walk-in legal clinic at Paul Bishop Ott`s St. Vincent Shelter at 220 St. Vincent de Paul Street, Baton Rouge, every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers provide legal advice and advice to individuals only in civil matters. The Pro Bono Project offers walk-in legal advice two to three times a month at several locations in the greater Baton Rouge area. Volunteers provide legal advice to various social services, including Catholic charities in the Diocese of Baton Rouge, the Charles R. Kelly Center, libraries in East Baton Rouge Parish and surrounding communities. The times and locations of these events vary. To volunteer for Ask-A-Lawyer, contact Lynn Haynes. Southeast Louisiana Legal Services Corporation refers cases to Project Pro Bono for referral to pro bono attorneys. Our volunteers provide legal advice to low-income clients and agree to accept at least two cases per year. There are cases in the areas of consumer credit, bankruptcy, education, employment, family law, health, housing, youth, ISS, immigration, wills and small estates. Volunteers may also serve on our pro bono volunteer panel only as dispute counsel for clients accepted directly by the Baton Rouge Bar Foundation when an opposing party is represented by Southeast Louisiana Legal Services Corporation.

The PST Resource Centre has a small volunteer staff to help people (1) fill out court forms, (2) find free legal aid, (3) get case information, and (4) answer questions about family court. The centre is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 to 14:00. Request for services The pro bono project accepts a limited number of cases each year. Civil (non-criminal) cases are referred directly by the Southeast Louisiana Legal Services Corporation (SLLS) to Project Pro Bono for referral to pro bono attorneys. To request free legal advice, you should contact Southeast Louisiana Legal Services Corporation at (855) 512-3980 or (225) 448-0080 or complete a web request at www.slls.org. Entitlement to service depends on gross income and family size, assets and type of case. If SLLS accepts your case, it may be referred to the pro bono project for referral to a pro bono lawyer.

The LSBA offers a directory of modest means, which includes contact information for lawyers who charge less or less because they represent someone for only part and not for the whole of a case.
