Legal Bearings

But things are changing. After acquiring O`Connor`s, we quickly realized how important our ideals and business values were. To be meaningful, company values really need to be at the heart of who you are and what you do as a company. They cannot simply be catchy slogans or slogans. We know the value of what we do best, and with benchmarks, we don`t just seek to bring back our old formula for success. We are determined to go beyond that. We`re building better tools for attorneys in Texas – with more attention to analytical detail, with a focus on fair and transparent pricing and legal resources beyond print. For decades, all three of us have contributed to the creation and growth of one of the most recognizable brands in legal publishing – O`Connor`s. We were a small Texas company, independent of big legal publishers like West and Lexis, and we understood what it took to succeed. For us, the formula was simple: create exceptional products, both in terms of analysis and information design; build meaningful relationships with lawyers, judges and librarians by treating them fairly and listening to their needs; and offer friendly and attentive customer service. Greg is a co-founder of Bearings Legal Resources and has over 20 years of experience marketing exceptional legal resources for lawyers across the country. Previously, he was Director of Business Development at O`Connor`s.

During his tenure in this role, his team wrote and developed several of his popular titles, including Texas Causes of Action, Texas Family Law Handbook, Texas Family Code Plus, and Texas Probate Law Handbook. When he`s not busy answering legal questions, he spends his time with his family and wife rescuing (and apparently keeping) boxers. Our mission is simply to provide exceptional products to lawyers, build long-term relationships with the legal community we serve, and be obsessed with personalized client service. Texas attorneys deserve the high standards that come from an independent legal publisher who understands Texas law and focuses solely on their needs. We are that company. Bearings Legal Resources is an independent legal publisher that provides exceptional legal resources to Texas lawyers. Our mission is to improve understanding of legal issues through thoughtful information design and an unwavering commitment to accuracy, clarity and timeliness. Jason is co-founder of Bearings Legal Resources and has over 25 years of experience drafting and publishing legal documents. He was the former Vice President of O`Connor`s from inception to acquisition. During his time at O`Connor`s, he learned so much about developing high-quality reference materials, building a business, building productive relationships, and knowing when smarter people should take over. As a native Texan, Jason strives to be an independent resource for members of the Texas Bar again. Kelly Beam is co-founder of Bearings Legal Resources and has over 15 years of experience in legal publishing.

Prior to founding Bearings, she was Director of Operations at O`Connor`s. She specialized – and inspired – in timeliness, product integrity and team building. In addition, she exceeded the editorial and written requirements of legal publishing as the editor of the Texas Family Law Handbook and the Texas Family Code Plus of that brand. In her not-so-free time, Kelly thinks about how much she would love to kayak, hike or sail. At Bearings, we invest in future lawyers and our judiciary. It made economic sense, but it also gave us and our colleagues a great sense of purpose and accomplishment. Working in a company that is committed to doing quality work and treats its customers properly has made engagement easy and inspiring. For us, the implementation of this formula has been rewarding and our success has not been surprising. The Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code is sometimes called the “bread and butter” of litigation practice, and Bearings developed the outstanding annotated edition for Texas practitioners. We commented on over 2500 cases and spared no effort to better understand the code and speed up the search.

Other unique features, such as thematic annotation headings and highlighted legal definitions, facilitate quick and thorough legal interpretation and analysis. And in the Bearings CARC, you`ll also find the Cause of Action tables, which contain all the information you need at a glance to quickly assess the “key aspects” of more than 60 causes of action.
