Texas Legal Update 3187

This document is a general summary of some of the court cases and changes made to Texas criminal law by the 87th session of the Texas Legislature. It is not a global recitation of every change, nor is it a legal opinion. Updates for the 87th Parliament (years 2021 to 2023) Case law, particularly the cases of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS), is incredibly important to the administration of justice. This program will briefly cover recent court decisions that are important to law enforcement, administrators and policy makers. UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED, THE LAWS COME INTO FORCE ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2021. The deadline for cancelling registration for this course has expired. Several bills passed by the 87th Legislature will have an impact on law enforcement in Texas. There have been administrative changes, changes in existing laws and new laws. By fighting for equality in the justice system and ensuring public safety, Texas law enforcement will better serve their communities by raising awareness of changes and additions to state laws.

Participants will receive 4 hours of TCOLE credit for completing this course.
